Whipcord is pleased to welcome Blackcloud to our Lethbridge data centre! Blackcloud's Biostar Hardware arrived at our flagship data centre, August 8th, 2018.
Recently we entered into a colocation and management services agreement, where Whipcord is responsible for all operations and support of Blackcloud's mining hardware. We created a customized and turnkey hosting solution for Blackcloud, as well as provided a network and hosting solution that will give them the ability to expand their mining operations in different locations.
Blackcloud’s initial power requirements were met using our existing base infrastructure and circuit breakers. We also worked with Blackcloud on a solution that allowed them to save on capital costs due to the higher power cost of being connected to the power grid.
Our Tier 3 designed facility was overkill for the miners at today's cryptocurrency prices, so we designed a pod that reduces the operational cost by using only free cooling and single string power (still with generator backup).
Together with us, Blackcloud is pursuing behind the fence solutions to support their growth as they scale, bringing their overall operational costs down.
